Sleep is one of our most basic human needs. We spend most of our life sleeping but do we know why?
Why humans’ sleep is still a mystery for Scientists. While they know that the human body is regulated by a circadian clock that keeps humans on a sleep/wake cycle, they don’t really know why. Sleep is the time when our bodies repair tissues and perform other maintenance activities. Some other organisms don’t need to sleep at all, so why do we? Sleep is essential for normal functioning of mental, emotional, and behavioral processes in our body. Scientists have found that if one does not sleep many metabolic conditions such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and obesity may attack us.
Though scientists have some ideas about it, no one seems to know the answer .They are still learning more about why it is important, and how sleep impacts our body.
